Dean RA3246 Heavy-Duty Air-Cooled Thermal Liquid / Hot Oil Pump
The Dean RA3246 is the largest, highest-capacity frame in the air-cooled Dean RA Series, engineered for high-flow thermal fluid, hot oil, and heat-transfer systems operating up to 650°F (343°C) without external cooling water. Available in 6x8x15.5 and 8x10x15.5 sizes with standard ASME Class 300 Raised Face flanges and a heavy pedestal-mounted casing support, the RA3246 delivers refinery-grade reliability while eliminating cooling-water piping, jacket fouling, and utility costs.
Key Engineering Highlights:
- Air-Cooled to 650°F (No Cooling Water Required): Integral cast cooling fins and a shaft-driven stainless-steel radial cooling fan maintain low bearing housing temperatures in continuous 650°F heat-transfer service.
- Heavy-Duty Pedestal-Mounted Casing: Foot-supported volute casing (Class 22 Ductile Iron) with ASME B16.5 Class 300 RF suction and discharge flanges (125 Ra spiral serrated finish) resists thermal pipe loads up to 3,340 lb-ft.
- Dimensionally Interchangeable with Dean R4240 / R480 Series: Drops into existing water-cooled Dean R4240 / R480 (6x8x15.5 and 8x10x15.5) footprints (31.50" shaft-end to discharge centerline, D = 15.00" shaft centerline height) to eliminate cooling water lines.
- Heavy-Duty Shaft & Bearing System: Stiff 2.375" coupling shaft (L3/D4 = 1.5) supported by an inboard pumpage-lubricated carbon/416 SS radial sleeve bearing (#180, P/N 6010120) and a grease-lubricated duplex pair of 7314 BG angular-contact ball thrust bearings (#25A, P/N 9010272).
- API Baseplate & Motor Packages (324T–449T): Configurable as a bare shaft pump or complete pump-set mounted on a heavy-duty welded steel API Baseplate with Drip Rim, paired with a Dodge D-Flex or Falk T-Spacer coupling and Premium Efficient TEFC motor (25 HP to 200 HP, including 150 HP 1800 RPM 445T IEEE 841).
